Why We Created Qualified People

Managing employees’ professional qualifications to ensure they were competent to work in high-risk environments was once a significant part of my role. The challenge was that no single awarding body or training provider used a common system for creating, issuing or managing certifications.

Instead, qualifications were scattered across countless PDF scans, email attachments and paper certificates, each with different formats, renewal dates, grades and expiry requirements. Keeping these records accurate and up to date placed an enormous administrative burden on employers, and in reality, many organisations managed them reactively rather than proactively. The result was unnecessary risk, reduced visibility and increased exposure for everyone involved.

We believed there had to be a better way. So we searched for a solution. When we realised one didn’t exist, we decided to build it ourselves.

Qualified People was created to provide a single, secure platform where individuals can manage, digitise, verify, renew and share their professional skills, qualifications and achievements. Rather than simply storing records after the event, Qualified People creates a dynamic ecosystem with a single source of truth that helps people stay compliant before qualifications expire.

The platform becomes even more powerful when qualifications are verified directly by the awarding body or training provider, giving employers greater confidence in the authenticity and integrity of every credential.

Most importantly, the information belongs to the individual. Every Qualified People member remains in control of their own digital record, deciding who can view their qualifications and when. Permissions can be granted or withdrawn at any time, putting ownership of professional credentials back where it belongs—with the individual.
